This January transfer window is always a time of significant rumour and potential big-money moves. Several high-profile players are being connected to transfers away from their present teams. This article explores some of the major names who could be changing clubs in January.

A. Semenyo

Despite Ghana's inability to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, this has kept the forward in contention, it appears a major move is imminent. This 25-year-old has a deal with a £65 million buy-out clause applicable for a two-week window at the start of the month. Recent developments indicate the Premier League champions have emerged as his services. Former interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have turned their attention to alternative options, potentially opening the door for clubs such as Manchester United or Liverpool to make a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

This England centre-back has continued to impress for Palace this season a previous transfer to Anfield falling through. With his contract due to expire in the close season, January is the club's last chance to secure a transfer fee for their skipper. A host of elite sides, including City and multiple European giants including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly be interested. However, a winter departure remains unlikely, especially given the manager's dependence on the player.

Brennan Johnson

This Welsh winger has had first-team minutes limited at Tottenham this term. Although being the club's leading goalscorer last season, Johnson has started only a handful of league games. It is understood the London outfit is open to a sale for the correct valuation, believed to be in the region of forty million pounds. The Cherries appear to be at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford additionally showing an interest.

This Portugal midfielder could be poised for a comeback to the Premier League following a spell in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, there have been suggestions from Spain that he is willing to accept a pay cut for a switch to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced Germany goalkeeper is now as third-choice at Barcelona under the coach Flick. Having fallen out of favour and had surgery, a winter departure looks highly likely. Villa were once linked as a potential destination, but that move now appears off. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly showing interest in the 33-year-old.

I. Toney

The proven English striker has kept scoring regularly in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League could boost his fading hopes of being in the England World Cup. But, securing a transfer poses major challenges. His current club do not wish to sell him, and his reported enormous weekly wages render any move difficult. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton are all mentioned as interested parties.

Juventus are eager to tie down the youngster to a new long-term agreement but are in a battle to retain one of Europe's brightest young talents.

Kees Smit

The much-admired Dutch teenage midfielder has earned parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. Following starring at the U19 Euros, he has broken into the AZ Alkmaar side. This teenager is widely expected to make a major transfer in January. Newcastle reportedly are leading the chase, but are facing strong rivalry from Real Madrid for a signing valued at approximately £22 million.
